Wild European Lynx

After being re-introduced in Switzerland beginning of the 70’s, the European lynx (Lynx lynx) is now roaming the Jura mountains and the Alps after more than a century of absence…
The biologists from the KORA, a swiss NGO, is monitoring the elusive cat with GPS and VHF and are translocating some individuals in other countries such as Austria and Italy.
If the lynx population is now stable in those areas, in France, the reintroduced population in the Vosges mountains seems to be so low that is probably near extinction. Local NGO’s are blaming poaching.
